REIN is our local Multiple Listing service.  It is indepenly owned by broker stockholder members.  It serves the areas in Tidewater or Hampton Roads, including Williamsburg , the North Carolina border and all the cities in between.

Our local market seems to be on the recovery, but we must not forget that a very large percentage of the homes sold were distressed sale, short sales and bank owned properties.

Mount Thrasmore in Virginia Beach, Virginia 

For those of you who have read my blog, know that I am doing a Biggest loser/winner contest.  Today I had organized a walk at the park.  The park which is centrally located to Virginia beach is Mount Trashmore.  I have driven by it thousands of time, but I had never been in it.  Well, my loss. 

Nicely organized with two lakes, walking trails, kiddie park, skateboard ramps, picnic areas, basketball court, volleyball courts, vending machines, restrooms  and the mountain that was built over recycled trash... what a way to recycle.  I am so out of shape that I barely made it up the tiny mountain, but it was well worth it.  I was thinking in three months I better be like Rocky when I finally climb it with the background music, and I will  throw in a few air punches.

Mount Trashmore in Virginia Beach  is 60 feet high and over 800 feet long, and is the heart of 165-acre Mount Trashmore Park.  The mount was created by compacting layers of solid waste and clean soil, literally turning trash into a treasure for families. It was built in the late 1970's.  The kid park "Kid's Cove" was built by volunteers.  The skateboarding facilities are free and open to the public, and operate from 8 a.m. until a half-hour prior to the park’s posted closing time.  Facilities include four large and 11 small picnic shelters, playground areas,  parking, vending machines and restrooms. Mount Trashmore Park also has multiple walking trails.

I liked the park so much, we are doing it again next Saturday.  Even the 30 degree weather won't keep us home.  Come visit Mt Trashmore in Virginia Beach you will love it.

"The Heritage Store" In Virginia Beach

40 years ago Tom Johnson started a small heath store selling just the health and beauty formulas recommended by "Edgar Cayce."  It now occupies a 22,000 square foot  facility.  I have been a customer of the "Heritage Health Foods Store" for over 10 years.  The store is located one block from the beach, and although it takes me 30 minutes to get there, the trip is always worth the time.  A fun store with thousands of products good for you, The Heritage is another Local Must-check out  place in Hampton Roads.
If you are looking for a healthy lifestyle in Hampton Roads you must check out  "The Heritage Store" in Virginia Beach  Health Foods, Holistic Center, Bookstore and Gifts. 

The fresh produce is as local as possible and organic.  There are so many products and services that I will only describe the ones that I have personally used.
The Cafe   Although the menu has gotten smaller through the years, every sandwich and soup is top of the line.  I make sure I try something different each visit.  I have tried recently the gazpacho, tomato soup and buffalo burger.  Each of them excellent.  The smoothies are delicious and made with fresh fruit on the spot.  
This is the only  "Juice Bar" in the entire area.
The Bookstore    If you are looking for  Metaphysical, astrology, dreams, self help, vegetarian books you will probably find it here.  

The Gift Store

Once again as local as possible.  Meats are frozen, but organic.  Celery, parsley, green peppers, seasonal fruits, I bought last week.  All fresh and tasty.
The Grocery Store
Organic cereals, rice, coffee, and a whole selection of Gluten and Wheat FREE products.
The Supplements   The selection is large with vitamins, body cleansing products, products for diet weight gain, children, arthritis and much more.

Customer service is excellent with very knowledgeable staff.  Even products they don't carry someone will know about and how to get it. When you visit the store plan on spending a couple of hours, some how time seems to fly while at the Store.
There are thousands of products, a catalog, a newsletter, discounts on the "New" 'Exonomy Busters" and 'Healthy Clippings'.

A few months ago I pulled a muscle and by the time I made it to the chiropractor, I could barely support my self. By the time I left, I felt better and within a couple of days I had forgotten about the whole ordeal. Yesterday, while camping we were picking up heavy things, and I saw both my kids bending and picking up stuff without bending their knees.
